What is an Orangery

Orangeries are beautiful structures that could add elegance and grandeur to your property. An orangery has an ornate roof lantern that offers plenty of space and light internally. Externally, there is a cornicing that wraps around the roofline to offer a classical design and brickwork that offers more insulation than full glass walls.

An orangery is more substantial than a conservatory, and can be considered halfway between a conservatory and an extension. With the benefits of plenty of light whilst being more insulated and an extension to your main property.

Everest orangeries are available in a range of colours with state-of-the-art engineering.

Why choose an Orangery?

Better insulation orangery

Better insulation

The challenge with a conservatory is heat retention in winter and overheating in summer. An Everest orangery has brick piers or aluminium columns which improve the insulation compared to a fully glazed conservatory.
The orangery also has a flat roof with a central lantern, which allows better internal thermal management whilst retaining the benefit of light that can flood into the room.
The cornicing that wraps around the roofline of our orangery can add more insulation so that the space feels like an extension of your home.

Wide range of design options

An Everest orangery offers many design options so that you can make a bespoke space just how you want it.
Options to hide guttering outside and hide wiring inside will create a seamless space with a flawless finish. Or choose to have a traditional central lantern or a contemporary fully glazed roof.
An Everest orangery can be created to your specifications.
We offer a wide range of colours, glass types and window styles to complete your dream space.

An Everest Orangery
An Orangery usable all year round

Enjoyable all year round

The main benefit to an Everest Orangery is the ability to enjoy the space all year round. Keeping warm in winter and cooler in summer.
With the use of our specialist glazing and insulated build, the sun rays can be reflected to keep your room cooler. The coating on the inside of the glass reflects heat back into your home, to retain more warmth and creates an ideal space to relax throughout the year.
Our range of orangeries can give you a beautiful space where you can enjoy your garden in all weathers.

Increased property value

An orangery will add more value to a property than a conservatory and can add as much as an extension if it is built to a high standard. Although a higher initial cost, an orangery should be considered as a longer-term investment factoring in the value it can add.

Orangery FAQs

Choosing a new Orangery can be a daunting task, so to help you here are some popular FAQs which you might find useful.

What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?
A conservatory is a structure built with a maximum amount of glass from floor to celing and a pitched glaszed roof. Conservatories also have the option for a small low-level brick wall from the floor and a solid roof. Usually, to be considered a conservatory, the roof is more than 75% glass and the walls myst be at least 50% glass.

An Orangery is built with more brick work with the walls that house large vertical windows. The roof is solid with a central glas lantern that adds plenty of light and space. Externally, an orangery has a cornice that runs around the roofline for an ornate finish.

What are the benefits of an Orangery over a Conservatory
A conservatory is a space full of light that offers views from all angles. Although it doesn’t have much privacy and can be cool in winter and hot in summer.

An orangery is a more substantial structure that has better insulation and thermal performance whilst allowing plenty of light to flood into the room.
It feels more like a seamless extension to your home that can be enjoyed in all weathers. An orangery feels more luxurious and offers elegance to a home.
  • +
Is an Orangery more expensive than a Conservatory
An orangery is more expensive than a conservatory as it is a more substantial structure with more brick work with more details. However, an orangery can add more value to a home than a conservatory and should be considered as a longer term investment.
